Is it a couple so content with each other's company they enjoy the silence, or is a couple who have nothing left to say to each other. He looks rather like the late Prince Phillip.
In order to keep the hucksters, humbugs, scoundrels, psychos, morons, and last but not least, artificial intelligentsia at bay, I have decided to turn on comment moderation. On the plus side, I've gotten rid of the word verification.
Edward Hopper had so much talent. I’ve always loved this painting.
ReplyDeleteI've always liked Hopper, Mitchell. I could have waited for his birthday to do a post, but it IS summer.

ReplyDeleteHa, Andrew, it does look like Prince Phillip! Maybe he and Elizabeth are watching little Charles play in the waves.
DeleteElizabeth would have managed to look regal, even in a bathing suit. Great picture, though!
ReplyDelete--Jim
That's true, Jim, and Phillip might have been required by royal protocol to lean backward instead of forward when seated next to the Sovereign.
DeleteI haven't seen that Hopper painting before -- thanks for posting it!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Debra. I recently came across it for the first time, too.
DeleteMaybe they're waiting for the sharks to go away.
ReplyDeleteThat does seem to be a problem this summer, Mike.
DeleteNice painting! I, too, appreciate you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI meant to add that it would make a good photo writing prompt for authors. :) Maybe it will inspire me to start some new prose.
ReplyDeleteWrite away, Darla, and may you have better luck than me, who only got a single sentence out of it (which I cribbed from Eddie Cochran.)
