I saw the size of some of these rallies and it was encouraging. I hope they will achieve their desired effect. Democracy truly is on the precipice right now.
David, I've said this in the comment sections of a number of blogs (as the No Kings rallies were a popular subject this week) and I'll repeat it here. Because I had to work, I could only attend the final 15 minutes of a rally not too far from where I live, but that was enough to get me hope. Not so much because of the size of the crowd, impressive though that may be, but because of the many beeps of support from passing motorists.
I have been avoiding the news over here, any news in fact! It's all gone to *insert swear word* over here too Kirk, honestly :-( Only news I read recently was the passing of Ace Frehley and the weather news, though it always rains here so we don't really need that weather report!
Ananka, I like some of the songs Kiss has put out over the years, but Frehley's passing just didn't inspire me to do a post. Besides, by previous three posts were obituaries of a sort. I need to take a break from death every once in a while.
In order to keep the hucksters, humbugs, scoundrels, psychos, morons, and last but not least, artificial intelligentsia at bay, I have decided to turn on comment moderation. On the plus side, I've gotten rid of the word verification.

DeleteThere was an old movie with Frederic March called Death Takes a Holiday. You are in good company, Kirk.
Delete--Jim
Great actor from way back when, Jim. I've seen many of his movies.
DeleteGreat cartoon! The crossing of the Delaware took place a few miles from where I'm sitting. Very timely.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, Boud! You're surrounded by history where you are, aren't you?
DeleteGood one!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debra. Or rather, thank Nick Anderson.
ReplyDeleteSatisfying.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mitchell.
