Today is World Refrigeration Day...

...so just chill.

  1. Well, Kirk, the world will certainly be much cooler with that couple leaving their refrigerator and freezer doors wide open. Fortunately, they look wealthy enough to pay the huge electric bill.

    1. Jim, it's from a 1966 Sears refrigerator ad. I guess that company (which barely exists anymore) wanted to you to associate their particular model with luxury. The thing is, Sears made its name selling affordable items to the middle-class (this was before Wal-Mart and Target), so it's really just slick, Madison Avenue imagery. Buy our fridge and you too can live like Dean Martin!

  2. Jeez. I had no idea this was a thing! Are heat waves allowed on World Refrigeration Day?

    1. Mitchell, it all depends on whether Mother Nature chooses to observe such a holiday.

    1. Just be glad you're not in Europe, JM. I've read stories of people drowning in the Seine in Paris trying to cool off.

  4. I'm chilled. I've just come in from the balcony, where it is 9/48.

  6. Who knew a fridge could inspire such glamour? Our is pretty old, but still functional and I can’t image living without it.

  8. A very fitting post for a hot day. A cool room, a cold drink, and a little relief from the summer sun can feel like a true luxury.

    1. "...true luxury"

That explains their choice of attire, Melody.
