In the latest in non-apocalyptic news, Walt Disney's granddaughter Joanna Miller has complained about plans to present an animatronic version of her grandpa at the Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, California next month, stating that it's "dehumanizing". I don't have a Pluto in this fight, but I would like to say...
...if it's good enough for Abe Lincoln...
Hello Kirk, Also Juno the Transparent Woman. I don't recall that she could move, but could Lincoln make his internal organs glow one at a time?
ReplyDelete--Jim
Ah, yes, Jim, I remember seeing Juno during a fifth-grade trip to the health museum. I recall that she talked but not moved. As for the robot Lincoln's innards, those were never on display, so I don't see why they would glow.
DeletePerhaps they would glow with pride at his accomplishments. --Jim
DeleteJim, I'd like to see his beard light up.
DeleteDo as I say not do as I do. Or grandpa did.
ReplyDeleteHow soon they forget, David.
DeleteThanks for teaching me the new phrase "non-apocalyptic news," LOL!
ReplyDeleteSuch news is becoming increasingly rare these days, Debra. You must cherish it while you can.
DeleteNon-apocalyptic news! I love it. I sometimes like what Disney’s granddaughter has to say. This time, she needs to think again. How absolutely ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteThe genie has left the assembly line, Mitchell.
DeleteWeird. I think he was dehumanised the day he died.
ReplyDeleteGood one, Andrew!
DeleteDo you think if they offer her some money she'll change her mind?!
ReplyDeleteMike, I think she already has a lot of money and is genuinely upset about this. But her grandfather became a marketing tool a long time ago. Quite willingly, in fact, as he became one when he was still quite alive (think of that ubiquitous signature of his, which appeared in Mickey Mouse comic strips and book that were drawn by someone else.)
DeleteI wonder what Walt would say? They really went to town after he died. Not sure he'd be too happy with that.
ReplyDeleteAnanka, I ask you, how happy would Honest Abe be?
DeleteSounds incredible :D
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it, Kinga?
