Tell me about it, mister announcer. You just described America in the 2020s.
Hi, Kirk!
I was shocked to read that Ray Liotta died. This morning, I am reading some of the tributes pouring in from fellow actors and directors who knew him, worked with him and acknowledged his talent. Ray died "way too young," as Robert De Niro put it, and I agree. He was only 67, five years younger than Shady, and I am eager to learn the cause of death. Ray Liotta was utterly convincing as Henry Hill in Goodfellas, a gritty film that stays with you long after you've seen it. I also watched and enjoyed Ray's performances in Field Of Dreams, in the 1992 psycho thriller movie Unlawful Entry in which he creeps on one of my favorite "it girls" - Madeleine Stowe - and in the TV crime drama Shades Of Blue starring J.Lo.
Thanks for getting something posted so quickly as the reaper claims yet another well known, well respected entertainer, actor Ray Liotta. Have a safe and happy weekend, good buddy Kirk!
Shady, say all the bad things you want about the Mafia, but Lucky Luciano or Frank Costello never felt the need to shoot up a classroom full of fourth graders.
OK, now that I got that off of my chest, GoodFellas is right up there with the first two Godfather movies (as well as some much older gangster films as White Heat and the first Scarface), and Liotta obviously has a lot to do with that, more than holding his own alongside such great actors as Paul Sorvino, Joe Pesci, and, of course, De Niro. Odd that afterwards he spent so much of career mostly in supporting roles (even in Field of Dreams, which is, after all, a Kevin Costner film,) something he never complained about.
I confess I never knew she was considered an "it girl", but I like Madeleine Stowe, too.
In order to keep the hucksters, humbugs, scoundrels, psychos, morons, and last but not least, artificial intelligentsia at bay, I have decided to turn on comment moderation. On the plus side, I've gotten rid of the word verification.
I will probably forget but I think if I Googled photos of him in his younger years, he would have been rather hot.
ReplyDeleteAndrew, Liotta was 36 when he became as star, and could convincingly play a man 15 years younger.
