Al Franken, now a senator, rose to fame as a writer/performer on Saturday Night Live, an American sketch comedy show. Charlie Rose had an interview show on PBS. Jeffrey Tambor is a character actor who's done a lot of things, mostly recently as the lead character on a show called Transparent, though my photo is from his days as a recurring character on Hill Street Blues, a TV series about cops.
Of the five, Rose surprised me the most. Perhaps because he seems so outside of show biz, you know, PBS and all (could Ken Burns be next? Shudders!)
Yes, Maddie, I did have a good Thanksgiving. I was at your place earlier and am further thankful that someone remembers Laurel and Hardy, two of the funniest men who ever lived
I think you're right. No rock stars have been accused of sexual misconduct, probably because bad behavior is part of the job description (just like being POTUS). I would like to add the names of two more actors I long admired whose pictures might have been included here: Stephen Collins, the pastor dad on Seventh Heaven, and Richard Dreyfuss of American Graffiti and Jaws fame.
First I heard of Dreyfuss. Wow! (Close Encounters of the Third Kind--still my favorite Spielberg movie, and, sorry, Star Wars fans but American Graffiti is still my favorite Lucas film.)
It's always a punch in the gut to learn that someone we admire has feet of clay. But that is indeed how the world works and we carry on, sadder but wiser.
I had a very insightful comment and if I can say... wonderfully written but it is not posted so I think I hit the wrong button again, again and again. wahahahahahahaha Charlie Rose is the one that bothers me the most.
In order to keep the hucksters, humbugs, scoundrels, psychos, morons, and last but not least, artificial intelligentsia at bay, I have decided to turn on comment moderation. On the plus side, I've gotten rid of the word verification.
Odd thing about this scandal, I don't believe a ROCK STAR has been accused yet.
ReplyDeleteOzzy Osbourne bites the heads off of small animals, but he's apparently on his best behavior around women.
I only know the first two! Tell me more about the others

ReplyDeleteI used to watch Charlie Rose on PBS here every night at midnight before bed. That one left me floored. They wasted no time dumping his show either.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed you thanksgiving.

Have a nice Sunday, good buddy Kirk!
Your POTUS remark made me laugh, Shady.

Well if Alabama votes like we think, perhaps all these men will have jobs in US congress though Franken already is there.
ReplyDelete"Mother, Jugs, and Speed" can serve as Cosby's campaign video, Adam

DeleteThat's true, Debra. I just wish there weren't so many punches at once. My gut needs time to recover!

cheers, parsnip and mandibles.
That's all right, parsnip. Charlie Rose bothers me the most, too. I still can't get my head around it.
