Vital Viewing (Lost Causes Edition)

There's nothing worse than the end of a romance.

Except for maybe war, debilitating illnesses, natural disasters, famine, molestation, homelessness, political corruption, environmental destruction, genocide, etc.

But I digress:

Oh, so sad! Is there any way a positive spin can be put on this?

Tomorrow is another day.

  1. This brings back such great memories (not Gone With The Wind). Sedaka was a prodigy and an unlikely idol.

    1. Intellectually, David, we all knew it would come to this. Emotionally is another matter.

  3. Yes, LOL, the most cheerfully upbeat breakup song of all time! RIP Neil Sedaka, you endless teenager.

  4. RIP Neil. Such a talent and will always be remembered. I was reading what Carole King said that he inspired her to follow her dream of being a songwriter :-D

    1. I'm glad you brought that up, Ananka. Sedaka and King dated in high school. When he they broke up, he came up with this song, his first big hit:

  5. I rather liked his distinctive voice. Interesting that the dancers were all black. It's a bit strange his death hasn't been reported here, to my knowledge.

    1. Andrew, Sedaka, along other teen idols like Paul Anka and Fabian, has often been characterized, to the point of derision, as having made rock and roll safe for white teenagers, so, yes, the black dancers were a surprise, and a welcome one at that.

  6. I didn't hear about Neil Sedaka. A blast from the past. If he was mentioned in the news I missed it. Seems the news has been preoccupied. Now to go listen to 'Breaking Up is Hard to Do' on repeat the rest of the afternoon.

    1. Mike, I try to vary this blog between the political (which, say, the war in Iran arguably falls under) and everything else (which Neil Sedaka falls under) in the belief that existence is not one thing or another.
