Here...Welcome to the blog Big Bad Bald Bastard.

Here's the exact quote from Matheson about Price's performance in THE LAST MAN ON EARTH: "I think Vincent Price, whom I love in every one of his pictures that I wrote, was miscast."

So Matheson did approve of Price in THE COMEDY OF TERRORS and THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM, as well as three other Roger Corman-directed Poe movies. However, Price played a villian in all those movies. Maybe he just couldn't accept him as a good guy. I could, and did, and obviously you did, too, in THE LAST MAN ON EARTH.

Price was a major leading man--if by "leading man" we talking top billing--in the low-budget drive-in fare of the 1940s and 50s. It would have been nice to see him as a leading man in big budget movies from the same period.

STAR WARS? I think it would have been cool to hear Price's voice come out of Darth Vader's mask. OK, bad guy again, but he was good at that, and, man, imagine the scene in RETURN OF THE JEDI when the mask comes off.
