@Lim...@Tag--I did say mine was a minority opinion.<br /><br />@Limes--I re-read the first paragraph of your second comment. Remember, Frazzeta was a commercial artist. Work for hire rather than art for art's sake. He had to continuously please the folks signing his checks. That he could still maintain an individual style in spite of that is what puts him ahead of the hacks.Kirkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02155991693956178030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-635884225797829085.post-51216914133557752932010-05-18T07:26:08.929-07:002010-05-18T07:26:08.929-07:00Ha, Tag! Any quick Google would divulge that Ding's Preserve is there. Tag, it was your "10 Best Places I've Been" post that got me going about the islands. And I soon knew I couldn't include them with 9 other places in one post, but could probably write 10 separate posts about the one place.Leslie Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15702472429383639709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-635884225797829085.post-1571998617935356802010-05-17T23:41:16.915-07:002010-05-17T23:41:16.915-07:00I like the over the top Conan and John Carter cove...I like the over the top Conan and John Carter covers. Fazetta redefined fantasy art influencing a lot of great artists who followed. Funny Limes should bring Ding Darling. I read a Randy Wayne Wright story set on and around Sanibel and Captiva. Good writer of crime fiction. I think his Conan art, which is what he's most famous for, is a bit over the top, but that's STRICTLY a minority opinion.<br /> <br />I was familiar with Ding Darling's name, but I confess I had to look up his cartoons from the '20s, '30s '40s to see exactly what he was all about.
