David, I just wanted to point out that someone we may now associate with the "good old days" saw the problems inherent in law enforcement and cleverly called it out whenever he could.
A bit different over here Kirk in Scotland, it's the police that tend to get beaten up and abused by the public. I know things are pretty bad over there with the police.
I donno if you know the case of Wayne Couzens down in England. Read up on it, terrible abuse of his position. :-(
What Andrew said is so true. For someone with a mental illness, it can be especially frightening, because most police officers do not have the training on how to deal with people with a mental illness, and this can often result in that person's injury or death.
It's not an original thought on my part, Linda, but I'm sure there are plenty of people behind bars that should be in mental health facilities instead.
In order to keep the hucksters, humbugs, scoundrels, psychos, morons, and last but not least, artificial intelligentsia at bay, I have decided to turn on comment moderation. On the plus side, I've gotten rid of the word verification.
There are plenty of reasons to be afraid of police, here included if you have a mental illness.

ReplyDeleteI've seen it in movies and TV, Mike but having grown up in the suburbs, the closest to a cop walking a beat would be a school crossing guard.
