Of course, she was a sex symbol, and there's a certain value in that, but other sex symbols--Marilyn Monroe, Jean Harlow, Jayne Mansfield, Gina Lollobrigida--DID have talent, and were able to bring something extra to the lusty proceedings. But even when the first show was riding high in the ratings, Peter Bonerz wasn't what you would call a "star". People were familiar with the fictional character he played, but unfortunately that familiarity for some reason didn't translate into any greater fame for the nonfictional Bonerz.

However, we here at Shadow of a Doubt won't let mere name recognition, or the lack thereof, stop us from paying tribute to a very talented individual. As was everybody connected to The Bob Newhart Show. Adam, I hope if you're ever channel surfing and come across it, you'll give it a look. Or you can click on the clip I provided. Bill Daily, who played Howard Borden (as well as Roger Healey on I Dream of Jeanie) is still alive. I don't know if Jack Riley, who played the neurotically surly Mr. Carlin was part of the main cast or more what's referred to as a "recurring character" but he died in 2016.

Marcia Wallace also voiced Bart's teacher on The Simpsons. That character was retired after Wallace died. Happy 80th birthday to actor Peter Bone...Hi, Kirk!

Happy 80th birthday to actor Peter Bonerz. I loved The Bob Newhart Show and was a regular viewer. It's ironic that the male members of the cast outlived the female members. Suzanne Pleshette has been dead and gone more than ten years now and Marcia Wallace died five years ago. 10 Star Bo Derek appeared in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! and will turn 62 this fall. She and I share the same birthday. I wish we shared a love nest. :)

Thanks, good buddy Kirk, and have a great week!Shady Del Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03839935472941264414noreply@blogger.com
