It would be less than honest of me to ignore those episodes, so I'm going to be taking a special look at them in Part 2. But don't despair, notacynic! In part three I'll go in the other direction, and look at those episodes, as well as a relationship between two of the original show's characters, that made Star Trek the most progressive TV program of its time, and our own as well.Kirkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02155991693956178030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-635884225797829085.post-40095211694349774162015-06-30T08:19:01.237-07:002015-06-30T08:19:01.237-07:00Jenny, he'd make a most logical pediatrician.Jenny, he'd make a most logical pediatrician. I think he'd have caught my eye even without the added pointy ears. I always do have to think twice before remembering not to call him Dr. Spock. I think it must have been a subliminal prompt to choose that name. Important to remember, however, that all of these writers--there were many--weren't necessarily (writing) on the same page. More about that in a future installments.

The show also represented aspects of the various actors. So complete, so full of your witticisms.

I think the stories in Star Trek can be likened to what new age authors say about our dreams. EVERYTHING in them represents an aspect in the dreamer - in this case, the writers - and in turn, our identification with them.
