Vital Viewing (Shag Edition)

Whoopi Goldberg was born on this day in 1955. Apparently earlier this year she performed a one-woman show and/or stand-up routine at the Palladium in London. She discusses it here with BBC talk show host Graham Norton (that's Keanu Reeves to her right):

I don't know if this one-woman show is going to be playing here in the States anytime soon, but if it does and it's anything like the above clip, it looks to be highly entertaining (though it might be a good idea to leave the kids at home.)

    1. It might be beyond my price range, parsnip, so I'll most likely watch it on a computer or TV set.

    1. It was stand-up (in the guise of a hit one-woman show on Broadway) that launched her career, Mitchell. I just find it curious that this new show played in London, and, as far as I can tell, no where else. The British press gave it very good reviews. Unlike that earlier show, it's just Whoopi being herself rather than playing different characters. But as you can see from that clip, Whoopi being herself can be pretty funny.

    1. And unscripted, Debra. She was just talking at the top of her head.

  4. Hi, Kirk!

I have admired Whoopi ever since The Color Purple. I also saw her in Soapdish, Sister Act and Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit, as well as in her TV series Whoopi. Her observations about life are spot on and I enjoy her salty language. I am sure that I would enjoy seeing her one-woman show.

I returned to blogging today. Thank you very much for reaching out with kind and comforting words during my bereavement, good buddy.

  6. Though I prefer her a comic actress, she really does a remarkable job In The Color Purple. I also think Stephen Spielberg gets a bit too show-offy with his direction in that film. I know it would have been hard, maybe impossible, but perhaps he should have just coasted on Whoopi's performance.

Again, Shady, sorry for your loss, and glad that you're back.
