Quips and Quotations (Sex, Lies, and Videotape Edition)

My God, what’s happening to Brian [Williams] is in the Zeitgeist...He’s trumping Bruce Jenner on social media. I mean, cross-dressing Bruce Jenner killed somebody, but Brian Williams is still trending.

  2. Akeru, I think your opening question is meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but in case it's not, and for people not in the know, Bruce Jenner was in a car accident last weekend that resulted in one person's death. He may have been following too closely behind a car, in which case he would have at fault, but that has yet to be determined. Whatever happened, it was hardly premeditated murder.

Jenner seems to have been dressed like a male at the time of the crash, not that that makes any difference to the victim's family.

Akeru, I saw the quote buried in a larger article concerning Brian Williams travails, and the goofy juxtaposition jumped out at me. The fellow at NBC News clearly wants us to follow Jenner and not Williams. Understandable in that there's something to be said for company loyalty.

As for Williams' misdeeds, seems to me more of an exaggeration than an out-and-out lie--I believe the helicopter in front of his was the one under rocket attack, but the situation still must have been pretty scary if he were close by.

  3. News news news, can't believe any of the announcers. They all have an agenda. Now it seems they all jump on any news and make judgements, pursue their agendas and never ever say they were wrong.
    sigh.

    cheers, parsnip
