Archival Revival

Sometime next week, I'll be celebrating my 48th birthday. Or I might just be in deep mourning. Hard to say. I kind of touched upon it a week ago in a post titled "Time Travel" which received a surprising amount of attention. But I actually prefer the post I did about the same subject a year ago, when I was about to turn 47. For one thing I was a year younger. The other is that I thought it was a nice little piece of writing. It has a few rough spots, but there's a soft landing.

  1. You youngster! That IS a nicely written post from last year, Kirk. Well done! And the birthday is next week, so it's sandwiched in between all the birthdays in my family I'd mentioned to you. I do hope you'll tell us the actual date. I have a memory like an elephant and I virtually guarantee you, I'd be tapping on your door to remind you next year! I must say I didn't care for some of the physical deterioration you noted in regard to aging - some of that seems a little close for comfort.

  2. Happy Early Birthday!

Read last year's post, and loved it.

There is one aspect of getting old that's kind of cool, you know...

Yeah, I know, the term "cool" is so not now, but here's the neat thing about getting old.

You can say what you please, when you please and how you please. All the filters go away. Then you just chalk it up to *ahem* "old age."

    LOL!

    ;)

  3. I'm already 48 and it's not so bad. At least it's easier to know your own mind. (the things that you still remember anyway.)

  4. MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY KIRK, I'M SHOUTING BECAUSE I WAS TOLD HEARING WAS THE THIRD THING TO GO! I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT THE FIRST OR SECOND THING WAS. BUT I'M SURE I LOST THEM YEARS AGO!

  5. @Limes--It's meant to be a comically stereotypical view of aging, but I think you knew that.

@Hill--Having read your blog, I have no doubt you say what you please. I'm not sure how old you are, but judging by your picture, you have very youthful shoulders.

@Dreamfarm--You don't look it. When you first showed up, I thought you were a good ten years younger than me.

@Tag--It's good that you're using all capital letters--because my eyes are going.

  6. I knew that! I don't miss much, despite (once again) being older than any of you.

In order to keep the hucksters, humbugs, scoundrels, psychos, morons, and last but not least, artificial intelligentsia at bay, I have decided to turn on comment moderation. On the plus side, I've gotten rid of the word verification.
